I guess it's not about service. It's about job professionalism. There is no problem with Air Hostess or employees, but it is management. Let me give snap shot of my exp.
My flight was from Bangalore --> Bombay --> USA
Flight took off at Bangalore 60 mins late. Staff reassured that flight in Bombay will be waiting
Once we reached Bombay they took boarding passes and tore them off. They said your flight already left, you have to go next day. Some passengers noticed that few passengers are still boarded into US flight with flight nbr given in our boarding passes. When everyone made an issue about this they said, it's overbooked so we can not accommodate.
So their statement that flight took off was literal lie which is unprofessional. Also they deliberately delayed Bangalore flight which also they did not manage nicely
Then they said go to Delhi there is a flight. We reached delhi there is no flight. There AI staff said not sure why they sent you here. Only option is next flight starts tomorrow. Next day they listed the flight but again they say it's cancelled due to technical difficulties and part has to come from other country and you can fly only tomorrow.
By that time there were passengers of 2 days waiting. when every one made a big noise, they arranged a flight after 4 hours.
They should have made alternate arrangements before all this mess and 2 days of waiting. Consider people with infants.
I understand unfortunate things happen but deliberate lies due to mismanagement and moving you around just to buy time is completely unprofessional. I did not find this kind of unprofessionalism in other airlines, even though there are other bad experiences with them also.

You are talking about rights as if you are a citizen of this country. Constitutional rights are given to the citizens of the country. It is not your right to stay in this country. Legally it is your employer who wants you here and petitions for your Greencard. Now can you get your employer to talk to your congressman or media or file a lawsuit for you?
There were some folks talking about lawsuit 3 months ago after the visa bulletin. That thread ran 9 pages and nobody did anything. 2 months ago again people talked about lawsuit and hunger strike. Nobody did anything. So it is not going to happen. Are you willing to spend thousands and keep going to courts or testify? Are you ok with your greencard application be used as an example and allow USCIS to scrutinize it?
This talk about lawsuit is all gas.

All law firms hired by the employer will only respond or react to employer and not to the employee. Fragomen is very conservative (not 100% ethical) and will not take any chances with GC processing. Employers will always take the law firm's adivice because they dont want to take any risk either. Fragomen represent almost all of the fortune 100 companies, all of BIG4's, BIG 3's and all major consulting firms.
If you (personally) hire Fragomen directly they will respond to all your queries in timely fashion. You will not talk to the lawyer at all. You will only talk to the paralegal. This is the problem with all big law firms.
Again, the prestige of the law firm you hire does not have anything do with your application.

�The way you stop illegal immigration is not to start by announcing that you're going to reward illegal immigration,� said Bilbray, chairman of the 107-member Immigration Reform Caucus.

The group, made up of 100 Republicans and seven Democrats, opposes the Senate and Bush administration proposal to legalize the nation's 12 million illegal immigrants as part of a broad package of immigration reforms.
The Senate recently debated and shelved the proposal but is moving toward a second round of debate. If the Senate passes it, attention then will shift to the House.
Last year, with Republicans controlling both sides of Capitol Hill, the House passed an enforcement-only bill while the Senate approved a sweeping legalization. With the two chambers moving in opposite directions, both bills died.
This year, Democrats control both the House and Senate. For that reason, it is unclear whether Bilbray and his largely Republican caucus would be able to defeat the legalization legislation again this year.
However, that didn't stop them from talking tough Tuesday in rejecting the latest gambit by proponents in the Senate to win over balky Republicans � a promise to spend $4.4 billion on border enforcement.
�Only in Washington would people believe that throwing money at the problem is going to solve it,� said Bilbray. �This is a blatant attempt by senators to extort votes so they can fast track an amnesty plan.�
�It's time to be resolute; it's time to show some backbone, and it's time to stop amnesty,� said Peter King, R-N.Y., who added that he would soon introduce enforcement-only legislation that would require a crackdown both at the border and at the workplace.
Bilbray claimed that public outrage against the Senate bill has stunned many Democrats, making them wary of supporting the Senate approach.
The Senate could take up the immigration bill late this week, beginning votes on a series of amendments expected to be presented by Republicans and Democrats. A final vote on the measure could come as soon as next week.
Senate passage would send the bill to the House, where it would go through a subcommittee that includes several outspoken critics of legalization.

I got a RFE on my 485 on 11th April and I have responded to it. By next week it would be 60 days by which USCIS has to take some decision. What would be the status update as my PD is Aug 2006.
Is it normal to get RFE while PD is not current?

I bought my own private jet and I travel in that only. On top of it , to keep an eye on my own private jet's schedule(which flies only for me) I got website developed as well.
Also, I got 5 strippers (sorry air hostess) to entertain me during the flight. Guys if you want to fly in my Private jet and avail all the facilities on board please call my dreamland office and speak to Ms. Fantasy and book up a ticket to neverland.

Just like IRS will be mailing checks to provide stimulus to the economy, IV bills need the stimulus of your checks to move forward.Now that Stimulus checks are in the mail, it's time for the community to loosen the purse strings and contribute to something that will benefit you immensely.
Let's not let this historic opportunity go waste over a sum of $50 or $100, something many of us spent just to get to the nearest available USCIS recognized doctor for our AOS medical tests. If these bills pass the savings are much greater - EAD/AP/DL renewal fees, FP fees, AC21 fees (whenever you change the job) etc. Now that the new Medical form has been posted - with additional TB testing - old tests may be considered invalid after a period of time ( I'm not saying they'll be, but knowing USCIS anything's possible). Not to mention job opportunities lost due to a missing plastic card - every one of us, EAD users, has at least one experience, where we couldn't apply or were denied opportunities for not having GC.
Considering the cost vs. benefits ratio, and the low risks unvolved (you aren't investing whole of your 401(k) here), let's not act 'pennywise and pound foolish'. Lets not fall victim to self-defeatist pessimism and thriftiness. If ,God forbid, the bills don't pass you are losing just 50 bucks, 100 bucks... something you'd have lost when the mail-in rebate check got lost in mail (or not got posted at all!). It's not like any of us will be losing our retirement savings or all our stocks. I'm sure no one will foreclose their homes because of it :-)

The real reason people are treated badly at Indian Consulate is because there are Indians working there!!! Every where you go, the first thing an India sees is the skin color. I went to Atlanta to a sweet shop run by some Indians, there my 4 year old saw the water dispenser and asked for water, they had some use and throw paper cups and a steel cup tied to the water cooler (just like in India). I took the paper cup, suddenly the guy came running down and started cursing that I am wasting the paper cup? I asked who the paper cups are for. The answer comes as �others�. This is not a one off incident, be it Air India, Temple, Restaurants, it�s the same thing. Indians have such an inferiority complex and they are just freaking jealous of every other country man.
On the other hand, Indians have 0 people skills and have no clue how to act on a public place or do they have any concern for others. I took my son for Kumon yesterday. As in any Kumon, majority is Indians, the hot topics yesterday was politics, dinner and how work sucks. They were discussing this so loud inside the establishment. Kids were trying to work and there they were arguing, laughing, it�s just pathetic.
So, what I am trying to say is, if you are trying to take this fight with Indian Consulate, is it really a one off thing�..

similar incident happened to my room-mate, may be little worse.
The airline was aerofloat (russian) in this case.
they boarded aircraft from bombay to ewr. aircraft started running on runway and after some unsuccessful attempts they came back to terminal. with everyone's surprise, the pilot announced that there is a techincal difficulty and unable to takeoff.
Next flight was after 48 hours and that too from delhi. No need to say my friend spend 24 hours also at moscow airport and finally reached newark after 4 days finally. All these with no ground staff at bombay by aerofloat. Being young students, my friend and his groups helped like a coolie to shuttle all other elderly passengers bags to hotel and so forth. He is a very fair person and still doesn't blame aerofloat. He bought the return ticket for 760 with tax, where other airlines used to charge like 1200 or so.
morale of the story: don't blame airindia for all the faults. I am sure there is lot to improve but it is not the only airline where things go bad. This is possible anywhere.
and lastly, the OP who blamed airindia for not allowing duty free stuff bought at NJ at frankfurt - don't blame AI. It is the airport staff of FRA and not AI.
For all those who think that only airindia is bad, go to google and search for reviews of any airline. Chances are very high that you will get such horror stories described by someone.
