I am seriously considering this option. I have over 6 years experience as Manager in two large Indian IT companies (part of which is in L1A visa). However, I have detailed experience letter for about 2.5 years. The other company (through which I came on L1A earlier) does not give detailed experience letter per their policy. They gave a summary letter with start date-end date, designation and basic salary. I can get maximum point with 4 years experience.
Does anyone know if Canadian Immigration accept secondary evidence like coworkers letter and/or my job description as mentioned in the L1 petition by that company.
Also, does anyone know how much prep is required for IELTS ?

I have long supported legislation to curb illegal immigration by increasing criminal penalties for immigrant smuggling and document fraud, eliminating the use of government documents that are easily forged, and doubling the number of border patrol guards. Better enforcement and tougher penalties for both undocumented immigrants and their lawbreaking employers are the way to fight unauthorized employment, and employment opportunities are what drive illegal immigration.
Unless we fix the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and the Central American Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA) and enforce our own labor laws, we will continue to debate how high the fence should be and how many agents should guard our border � with no real solution in sight. In 1994, the U.S. signed NAFTA, which promised, among other things, to help create a thriving middle class in Mexico. At that time there were 3 million undocumented workers in the U.S.; today there are more than 11 million. In Mexico, 9 million more live in poverty than when NAFTA was enacted. NAFTA has failed the U.S. and Mexico. By creating an atmosphere where Mexican citizens feel they have no chance of a successful life in Mexico, these ill-conceived trade agreements increase the number of illegal immigrants coming into our country.
In addition to addressing the forces that are compelling illegal immigration, we must take action to bring illegal immigrants out of the shadows. While I do not support amnesty and have serious concerns about guest worker programs, I do believe our nation should consider establishing a process by which illegal immigrants can eventually earn citizenship. The solution to our immigration problem will not be a simple one, as many things in our country need to be fixed to stop illegal immigration. It is time to take a common sense approach to immigration reform.
The Senate most recently considered immigration when S.1639 was introduced in the 110th Congress. On June 28, 2007, the Senate rejected a cloture motion to proceed to final passage of S.1639 by a vote of 46 yeas to 53 nays. I was deeply concerned about the guest worker provisions in this bill, and voted against proceeding to a final vote. Folks, let's not be judgmental please. Constructive critics should be a good thing.
I think this guy is from numbers usa for sure. After writing all the BS, he asks it to take it in constructive way. There are lots of other way to express your concern if it had to taken in constructive way. This is definitely not the way.
Based on your comments I could see that you are a regular visitor (FREE RIDER ATTITUDE) to IV site for more than a year. We had several threads crying out for funds in very critical time senstive times. At those times you are a mere spectator and now just for posting this bashing post you reluctantly became a anonymous member. All these shows your LEADERSHIP skills and quality of leading the battle from FRONT. If I were in USCIS I would do a background check on these high qualities and ground breaking positive attitudes even before giving H1.

I haven't researched L1 quota and its intent so I really can't comment further with respect to that.
Its unfortunate that legals and illegals are measured on different scales and it would be very unfair if they end up getting more benefits than us legals. I am not sure what you mean by illegal spouses? Either one is illegal or one is not.
I wish you the best in your search and would highly recommend exploring the unpaid internship possibilites in the interim.

To be frank there was momemtum and energy missing in DC and other states before the rally! I think there are many ignorant, many not willing and many not up to giving a day!
Have we tried to educate them about their situation today ..
IF many of us have been able to file I485 in JULY then its 'coz of IV and ONLY IV!!
If we stress on IV's acheivements .. eg. flower campaign & San jose Rally and outcome of these..Reversal of Visa Bulletin then I think people will try to understand..
Tell you what people with PD in the last 2 yrs have not shown up in big numbers! Only with PD as late as 2001,02,03,04,05 have been able to evaluate the seriuosness of the whole GC thing & able to visualise the waiting frustrations!! Lets bring in more of the recent yrs PD people so that they know HOW LUCKY they are Just 'coz of IV!!
I think most of PD's with 05, 06, 07 got a chance to apply I-485 and may be they thought tht they got their GC by applying I-485. They are happy for tht and didnt really understand the seriousness of the situation. This is just my thought. [No offense on all ppl who attended the rally with PD 05, 06, 07]

I did not go to DC because i did not want to get the green card this way.I grew upwatching aunts,uncles coming from USA bearing gifts.I grew up watching cousins go for USA for higher studies.It used to be so special. Now its become so cheap. Now you guys have literally taken it to the streets. There's no difference between those illegal immigrants and us. This H1visa has ruined it for really smart students who come here on F1 with full scholarship.
This software industry and these cheap bodyshopping companies made it nothing more than a whore business.

Guys, any idea on what happens to GC Process and H1 in case your employer is acquired by another company willing to do similar job.
My company sold my business unit to another company. I filed my 485 3 weeks ago. I'm on my 7th year H1 which is already extended to Nov 2008.
Both companies are willing to cooperate.

I was wondering if IV core had some time to analyze this bill and summarize it for their members like the previous version of this bill. Would appreciate a quick summary of this bill with Pros/Cons in this bill for our community.
Can somebody pls do this? The main thing that I am wondering is that if you cannot place consultants on client site on H1B then what will happen to them? How will big consulting companies(the likes of Wipro, Satyam) survive?

I don't understand the confusion. Didn't Ron mention in an earlier post that the DoS guy who makes cutoff decisions said that all new EB-2 India visas will only come from EB-1 unused numbers?
Doesn't matter what Ron thinks - what matters is what DoS is planning to do.

Now that it is clear that we can file 485 without 140 receipt notice, I want to know what you guys, who have not received 140 receipt notice yet, are planning to. Are you going to file 485 right now with the information insturcted by USCIS (brightly colored paper...)? Or are you going to wait for the 140 receipt notice until certain point and then, if you still have not received the receipt by then, file 485 with the information insturcted by USCIS (brightly colored paper...)?
