I called USCIS and the representative said that, the normal turn around time for receipts is 15 days. And if we dont recieve the receipt by then, the employer can call and ask for the receipt #.
I think with the receipt number, we should be good to go.

There are many not so preferred areas in Canada, where there is always a demand. Most people prefer large cities such as Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver, etc. These are mostly saturated, but with persistence you should find something even there. If you don't care where you live, you should definitely find a lot of openings in the area you mentioned.

If USCIS realizes their mistake and revokes an approved I485, will they also take the necessary steps to restore the previous status of the applicant? i.e. H1/H4/AOS/EAD or what ever the wrongly approved person had prior to the approval mistake?
I am also worried. I called my attorneys office to inform them but of course like always he is in a meeting. I am sure this was an error but I am hoping its not call me optimistic but I like the smell of green card :)

Does US immigration check up on this stuff? If so, how? I'm thinking that the Texas processing center (where my info is being processed) is too busy working on my papers (and other folks' papers) rather than inquiring about everyone's employment status.

Withdrawing funds from 401K before retirement is not a good idea. It is best to rollover the funds into an IRA at your bank.
By the way, after the Patriot act is passed, you can not maintain financial accounts in this country after you leave if you are on H-1B. Uncle Sam is afraid you will be financing Terrorists. Another sucker punch. Take it like a (wo)man. :D :D

I really dont know what the purpose of this thread is, or whether it accomplishes anything.

Think of something that is unique, gets media attention, something that has not been done, but conveys the message in a very subtle way and yet is very powerful and will create a lump in the throat.
Free math turoring, free SAT preperation classes, you get the idea....
Good idea, do something constructive and get media attention. This solves multiple purposes, media attention, best use of time, and would also convey a positive message.

No. What I am saying is that this is a good amendment that can help us. But if its introduced and voted upon, it will fail to pass in the Senate because this amendment has a H1B exemption and H1B quota increases are very very unpopular and controvertial since last few years.
Therefore the achilles heel (Weak portion that will cause failure) of this good amendment is the H1B quota trick attached at the end. The amendment may pass the senate with a majority vote if it doesnt have H1B quota exemptions in it.
IV position since the beginning of this debate has been to ride either an H1B Bill or to tag along with Illegals.....Both of which have come back to bite us now....Hopefully we are able to get EB retrogression issued resolved now that we are left in lurch.....

In EAD form, Q.11 Which USCIS center and Date(s).
What date we have to write? I am trying to fill up the pdf electronically. So it is allowing me to write only one date. So it should be the start date of previous EAD or end date? or range of date like 07/11/2008 - 07/12/2009

I have recently applied for my H1 extension and have recieved the reciept. My current H1 is about to expire.
Can I apply for AP. (Assuming USCIS looks at my AP application before my H1 extension is approved)

Unless Congress provides the necessary funding for managing the millions of applications under MBS along with Y visa, Z visa, new family based petitions etc etc, anyone would agree that the total time to get a green card will not be less than 9 years regardless of how many points you have or how early you filed for ur GC.
The current gc backlogged applicants have already gone thru 5 years of never-ending wait time - this will increase by another 9 years.
