To be frank there was momemtum and energy missing in DC and other states before the rally! I think there are many ignorant, many not willing and many not up to giving a day!
Have we tried to educate them about their situation today ..
IF many of us have been able to file I485 in JULY then its 'coz of IV and ONLY IV!!
If we stress on IV's acheivements .. eg. flower campaign & San jose Rally and outcome of these..Reversal of Visa Bulletin then I think people will try to understand..
Tell you what people with PD in the last 2 yrs have not shown up in big numbers! Only with PD as late as 2001,02,03,04,05 have been able to evaluate the seriuosness of the whole GC thing & able to visualise the waiting frustrations!! Lets bring in more of the recent yrs PD people so that they know HOW LUCKY they are Just 'coz of IV!!

First thanks to those who put there first hand experience in this thread, it made me think again. And now I am deciding to cross the border and go north, after 9+ years in US on H1b.
Could someone please refer a Do-it-yourself kit that they have used and/or immigration consultant?
I contacted one consultant, they email almost every week and when I called/emailed them saying I am ready to pursue there has been no response from other side yet.
It will be great help for me if you could refer a kit or a consultant.

I am on L1 Visa & I went to SSN office to apply SSN for my child (L-2 Visa). They refused to accept my application and they wanted Documentation from the appropriate government entity explaining the need for the SSN as per

Remember the petition that I wrote supporting the SKIL bill, which was not endorsed by IV core at the time of the party with CIR? Lets work on it now and give it its final shape and lets get this bill passed...

How many people in EB2 do a different job from EB3?
Most of the people in EB2 almost do the same programmer job. I have been in this country for a long time. I have friends who have done their MS from colleges like stanford, santa barbara. I don't see a difference in their role. I have more than 10 yrs of exp. I have worked in different roles too.
For jerks like u to come and talk abt people in EB3 being unskilled, makes me sick.

In any case the classification is not based on one's country of origin or individual's personal qualifications ... it is based on what the job requires. heck an individual having Phd can get a job which requires only 2 yrs study and no exp that doesnt mean that they are any less qualified that a person in EB1 for any country .... but the most value gained is in the EB1 category job....hence the argument.... nothing to do with where you are born or what individual qualifications you possess .... Im sure you are highly qualified and educated ... think and read ...

Hello,
I am currently working on L1 B in a comany X, I applied for H1B in 2007 through a company Y and my petition got approved, in Nov 2007 they applied for change of status regular processing, in Apr 2008 got a RFE , consultancy responded back to USCIS shortly after it, still waiting on for change of status ............
is there anyone out there in a similar situation, please share your experiences

That right doesn't come without a responsbility - put your wallet where your mouth is. We have seen enough of these 3-4 post members suggesting "change" in leadership sitting in their cozy armchairs.
I know understand why lawmakers want to club us with illegal aliens - because many of us, inspite of our so-called superior education, are in fact worse off than the illegals when it comes to putting up a united front against numbersUSA. So maybe we need the "cover" and "protection" of the illegals to get our provisions passed. Shame on us !!
As a member, I have full right to suggest a change of leadership when I think it can help.

Hello,
I have been going through this discussion. I am in a similar situation where I got a Welcome Notice saying my I-485 was approved and I should be receiving my card in 3 weeks when my PD is not current and in fact, the PD is a couple of years behind! It has been 6 months since I got the notice and no GC is in sight. After calling the customer service in March, they told me that they did not have my biometrics in their system and so I had to go for a biometrics appointment early April. It is almost 3 months since then and I still have no GC card. I know that there is a delay in card production, but at the same time, I am wondering if the I-485 approval was by mistake and that is causing the real problem. I am in talks with a lawyer who suggests it is better to correct the USCIS mistake right now rather than getting into complications in the long run. I am frustrated that I have to pay for an attorney for a mistake USCIS did and concerned what will happen in future when I proceed with their advice.
Could one of you who faced this situation descibe how you handled the situation or how you would handle this situation? In my case, there is no other I-485 or anything filed before and I have never been out of status or had any issue ever.

Why do you try and find an excuse to do less? IV never said stop sending once we get to 10000... or 20000.... We should try and get AS MANY LETTERS AS POSSIBLE. Aim high my friends.
U got me wrong ,my dear needhelp.I dont need an excuse .What i am doing or have done is not becos of compulsion from anyone.U say as if u have paid me to do.Whatever every one is doing is to fight a common issue.BTB i have clearly mentioned that i will be gettig involved in anymeasures endorsed by the core,meaning i wont like to involve in demands by any passer by henceforth to send this send that etc etc.A simple issue is during the omnibus campign someone asked me for my name address and other details.Now he wanted my phone number to talk to.I mentioned to him to give his that i can speak to him.For that he is not interested.If this guy such a coward to even discuss his identity the why the heck does he campign for million letters and demand others identity.
But my point here was if we want to wait for million siggies for the core to get involved as mentioned by D2K,then it is not worth sending letters.I might get my GC with a PD july 2007 before we collect 1 million letters even with the current pace of USICIS.We find it difficult to get 1000 letters then u discuss about 1 million.Ok assume we sent 1 million letters.Is Bush going to have it safe and file all those papers and have that for discussion.By the time we collect 1 million letters we are increasing the Govtmnts expenditure in removing thrash from Bush's office.

Earlier the dates were Feb 9th.I have been thinking that with those collected we/core is about to start a discussion with DC based on that .Now you say march .No one is stopping anyone from writing letters,but why cant we initiate discussion in parallel instead of waiting for 1 million number.I dont mind accompanying to DC is i have been informed atleast 15 days ahead. :)

If we don't receive a notification today saying that our EAD has been approved, does that mean that we would get a 2-Year EAD card? Or do you think that they will work over the weekend? :D

It will be interesting to see Sep bulletin. Because at present except EB2 I & C all other categories are either C or U. So, each and every visa will go to EB2 I & C and there will be plethora of approvals beginning Aug 1st. I-485 processing date is in July ’07 (both at TSC and NSC) and all the pending EB2 (till June 1st 06) may not be ready to adjudicated (RFE, denials, I-140 not cleared etc). If the above numbers are correct and given the fact that additional numbers will be available beginning Oct (2008 quota), there is bright chance that EB2 dates may still move further. This is my personal opinion.

I too got the exact letter. I was annoyed to see they do not know what is the priority date. Now we know the reason for random approvals.

If we are to acheive what we have set out to do, paid ads are the way to go. In a way we have to disseminate via propaganda the difference between us and the illegals and our worth to the country.
Stuff like this takes time and more importantly money. While IV is a grass roots organization a certain degree of sophistication vis a vis public relations will go a long way in strenghtning our stance and garnering public support.
Projecting ourselves to the media as educated, intellectual elite requires a lot of image building that would be difficult in a mass rally where huddled masses are easily seen as being the downtrodden.
